Thriving Local Communities
Our local communities across are thriving with busy streets, vibrant and varied local businesses and housing delivered at scale.
I campaigned for Living Streets: Dún Laoghaire in order to make our local streets safer and greener, our communities more connected, and to keep our economy vibrant. I look forward to continuing this work in making Dún Laoghaire more liveable and accessible.
Shanganagh Social and Affordable Homes
It was incredible to see the housing project launched at Shanganagh Castle in September this year. Located between Shankill and Bray, applications are now open. Comprising nearly 600 homes, including affordable purchase homes, cost rental apartments and social homes, the estate is well connected to the city with frequent buses running past and a new DART station in the works.
I really fought hard for this project at Council level. It was the first project to be backed by the Land Development Agency and was developed in collaboration with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Council. It is the first partnership of its kind and a model for future development.
I’m looking forward to seeing it become home for so many.
I'm also looking forward to continuing the fight for our local communities.
If elected I will fight for free public access to the sea for all, for Dún Laoghaire Harbour to be a hub for watersports and the ferry terminal to be developed for multifunctional community use.
If elected I will be fighting for the provision of more dog parks, dog poo bags, sports boxes, bins and toilets in our parks.
If elected I will fight to cover the DART at Marine terrace and create safe, well lit spaces for our community, women and girls.
I know that the narrow alley between Blackrock DART station and the park has long been a source of stress. In October, the Council agreed to buy the land needed to turn the alley into a wide route for walking and cycling.
